Thailand Industrial Park Power Distribution Expansion Project

Thailand Industrial Park Power Distribution Expansion Project

In early 2025, DHDL successfully delivered one S-8000/33 oil-immersed distribution transformer for a power distribution expansion project in an industrial park in eastern Thailand. The project helped the customer increase power supply capacity, improve distribution stability, and support the growing electricity demand of new factories and production lines.

Project Overview

Country Thailand Application Industrial Park Power Distribution
Product Oil-immersed Distribution Transformer Model S-8000/33
Capacity 8000kVA Voltage 33kV / 0.416kV
Frequency 50Hz Cooling Method ONAN
Installation Outdoor Installation Production & Testing 38 Days

Project Background

The customer is a Thai EPC contractor specializing in power engineering projects, including substation construction, industrial park distribution system upgrades, and power infrastructure improvement projects.

At the end of 2024, the customer undertook a power distribution expansion project for an industrial park in eastern Thailand. With the continuous growth of electronics manufacturing, automotive parts, and food processing industries in the region, the existing distribution system was approaching its designed capacity.

To meet the power demand for the next three to five years, the industrial park planned to add one 8000kVA distribution transformer to the existing 33kV power network. Since the project had already entered the construction stage, the equipment procurement schedule was tight.

Customer Challenges

Tight Delivery Schedule

The transformer had to be manufactured and shipped within 45 days to avoid delaying the substation energization plan.

High-temperature Environment

The site is located in a hot and humid area, with ambient temperatures often exceeding 40°C during the hottest months.

First Direct Purchase from China

The customer paid close attention to quality control, factory testing, delivery management, and after-sales response.

Why the Customer Chose DHDL

During nearly three weeks of technical communication, the customer compared transformer suppliers from China, Vietnam, and Thailand. DHDL was finally selected because of its professional technical response, overseas project experience, transparent production process, and reliable delivery commitment.

DHDL’s engineering team responded to technical questions within 24 hours and provided optimized suggestions based on the actual project conditions. DHDL also shared the production schedule and quality control process, covering raw material preparation, winding, assembly, testing, and final inspection.

DHDL Solution

For the high-temperature operating environment, DHDL optimized the heat dissipation design by adding fans to improve cooling performance. Higher-grade insulation materials were also selected to improve long-term reliability under continuous load operation.

During production, DHDL assigned a dedicated project manager to follow up the production schedule and provide weekly progress updates to the customer. This helped the customer monitor equipment status and coordinate the project schedule more effectively.

Factory Tests

Before shipment, the transformer completed a full set of factory tests. After all test data was confirmed by the customer, DHDL arranged shipment.

Insulation Resistance Test
Winding DC Resistance Test
Voltage Ratio Test
Vector Group Test
No-load Loss and No-load Current Test
Load Loss and Impedance Voltage Test
Power Frequency Withstand Voltage Test
Induced Withstand Voltage Test
Sealing Test

Delivery and Result

The production order was officially released in March 2025. From material preparation to final factory testing, the whole process took 38 days. After testing was completed, the transformer was shipped by sea to Laem Chabang Port in Thailand.

The project was completed five days earlier than the contractual delivery schedule. After the equipment arrived on site, it was successfully installed, energized, and put into operation.

After one month of operation, the customer reported that the transformer was running stably and all operating parameters met the design requirements. The customer also recognized DHDL’s communication efficiency, especially the regular production updates and test reports provided during project execution.

Follow-up Cooperation

After the successful commissioning of this project, the cooperation between both parties was further strengthened. In September of the same year, the customer contacted DHDL again for another industrial park power distribution upgrade project.

The two parties later signed a second batch purchase intention, including 33kV distribution transformers and supporting high-voltage switchgear. The customer stated that DHDL would be given priority in future industrial park and infrastructure power projects in Thailand.
