Harbin Intelligent Computing Center Phase I Power Distribution System Project
Harbin Intelligent Computing Center Phase I Power Distribution System Project
With the rapid growth of AI training, cloud computing and big data services in Northeast China, an intelligent computing center in Harbin New Area launched its Phase I expansion project. The project planned to add approximately 1,800 cabinets and about 18MW of new IT load. To support 24/7 continuous operation, the customer required a highly reliable power distribution system with dual power supply access and a double-bus power distribution architecture.

Project Background
The project is located in a data industry park in Harbin New Area. As demand for AI computing, cloud services and big data processing continued to increase, the customer started the Phase I expansion of its intelligent computing center.
The construction scope included 35kV substation expansion, high and low voltage distribution rooms, UPS power supply system and diesel generator backup system. Since data center operation requires continuous and stable power supply, the project placed very high requirements on power distribution reliability, redundancy and environmental adaptability.

Customer Challenges
High Reliability Requirement
For data centers, even a brief power interruption may cause service disruption and business loss. The power distribution system needed to support continuous 24/7 operation.
Low-temperature Environment
Harbin’s winter temperature can approach −30°C. The equipment had to meet stable operation requirements under severe cold conditions.
Tight Delivery Schedule
The customer required equipment delivery within a short project cycle to ensure the Phase I computing center expansion could be energized on schedule.
Why the Customer Chose DHDL
During the supplier evaluation process, the customer contacted several manufacturers from Shandong, Jiangsu and Guangdong. DHDL was finally selected because of its experience in data center power distribution projects and its ability to provide a complete transformer and distribution room solution.
DHDL was also able to meet the required 45-day delivery cycle for the first batch of equipment and provide design experience for low-temperature operating environments, which helped reduce project execution risk.
DHDL Solution
To meet the high reliability requirements of the data center, DHDL adopted a dual 31.5MVA main transformer parallel operation design. When one power route is affected, the system can still support critical loads, improving the continuity of power supply.
Delivery Timeline
The contract was signed in June 2024. The first batch of equipment was shipped on the 32nd day after contract signing, and all equipment arrived on site within 58 days.
The overall delivery was completed eight days earlier than the planned project schedule, helping the customer keep the Phase I data center expansion on track.
For the low-temperature operating environment in Harbin, DHDL applied a low-temperature sealing design and added anti-condensation measures to help ensure stable equipment operation during winter.
Customer Feedback
The project was energized at the end of 2024 and has been operating continuously and stably. The customer reported that the overall equipment operation was stable, and the power distribution switching test results met the design requirements.
Follow-up Cooperation
In 2026, the customer started planning the Phase II data center construction project and again purchased six 2500kVA dry-type transformers and supporting UPS equipment from DHDL.
This continued cooperation reflects the customer’s recognition of DHDL’s equipment quality, delivery capability and experience in data center power distribution projects.
Delivery and Result
The production order was officially released in March 2025. From material preparation to final factory testing, the whole process took 38 days. After testing was completed, the transformer was shipped by sea to Laem Chabang Port in Thailand.
The project was completed five days earlier than the contractual delivery schedule. After the equipment arrived on site, it was successfully installed, energized, and put into operation.
